Meitu Reports 40% Profit Surge in First Half, Reaching Record Monthly Active Users

Meitu Inc (01357) has announced its interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, revealing a robust financial performance. The company reported revenue of RMB 2.213 billion, marking a year-on-year increase of 22.1%, alongside a gross profit of RMB 1.581 billion, which grew by 15.9% from the prior year period.

Net profit attributable to shareholders surged by 40% to RMB 619 million, translating to basic earnings per share of RMB 0.14. The board has proposed an interim dividend of HKD 0.067 per ordinary share, reflecting confidence in the company's ongoing profitability and cash generation capabilities.

During the first half of 2026, the company's productivity applications demonstrated strong momentum, with Monthly Active Users (MAU) reaching a historic peak of 33 million in June. Notably, markets outside mainland China experienced exceptional growth, with MAU expanding by over 80% year-on-year, underscoring the global appeal of Meitu's product suite.

As of June 2026, the Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) from AI-powered productivity applications had grown further to approximately RMB 620 million. Among the key drivers, the ARR for Kaipai and Vmake Labs saw remarkable growth, doubling and tripling respectively compared to the same period last year, highlighting the accelerating adoption of these AI-driven creative tools.

User engagement with AI computing power also intensified, with total consumption of AI computing points achieving sequential quarterly growth exceeding 46% in both the first and second quarters of 2026. The rate of growth accelerated in the second quarter, indicating that users are increasingly integrating AI visual creation workflows into their daily activities.

In a separate corporate development, Alibaba's subscriber has exercised its rights under the convertible bond subscription agreement dated May 20, 2025, nominating Mr. Jin Xin to serve as a non-executive director. Following a recommendation from the nomination committee, the board has confirmed Mr. Jin's appointment effective from the conclusion of the board meeting held on August 26, 2026.
