Shimao Group (00813) has announced that it received a winding-up petition filed by a creditor, according to a company filing. The petition was submitted to the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on August 27, 2026, by Guotong Trust Co., Ltd., acting as the petitioner.

The winding-up application stems from four separate judgments issued by courts in mainland China, which have resulted in outstanding judgment debts totaling RMB 2.498 billion. These debts form the basis of the petition against the property developer.

The High Court has scheduled the initial hearing of the winding-up petition for November 11, 2026. Shimao Group has not yet disclosed its response or any potential defense strategy regarding the legal action.
