Micron Technology promoted two executives as part of the company's efforts to keep up with soaring artificial intelligence demand.

The memory and data-storage provider named Manish Bhatia as its new chief operating officer, and Scott DeBoer as chief technology and products officer. Both are being promoted from executive vice president roles.

Bhatia, 54 years old, will lead Micron's operations and business units, including capital investment and managing demand and pricing.

Micron is navigating a spike in memory demand and pricing, as supply dwindles and AI hyperscalers continue to drive up an appetite for data storage.

DeBoer will be responsible for advancing Micron's memory and storage roadmap, which includes overseeing research and innovation to meet customer requirements.

"Today's announcement is about ensuring that we are strategically aligned as an organization to meet the needs of our customers in an AI-enabled future," Chief Executive Sanjay Mehrotra said.

As part of the transition, Sumit Sadana is stepping down from his role as chief business officer to become a senior adviser to Mehrotra.

Bhatia joined Micron in 2017. He has helped build a more integrated operating model to position Micron to respond better to customer needs. DeBoer has been with the Boise, Idaho, company since 1995.
