Market Chatter: Microsoft President Says AI Faces Fewer Safety Rules Than Milk, Washing Machines

Microsoft (MSFT) president Brad Smith thinks AI faces less regulatory oversight than everyday goods such as milk and washing machines and needs global safety rules, BBC reported, citing an interview with Smith, president of Microsoft.

AI companies should have methods to pause or at least slow AI that gets out of control, along with a legal requirement to file incident reports and notify victims when its agents go rogue, according to the BBC interview.

Independent government evaluators should vet new AI products before release and decide when outside sign-off is required, Smith said in the interview.
